Pittsburgh, PA born actor came to the stage in the 1890s and reached Broadway in 1900. Meighan made his film debut in London in a 1914 short and began working in the US film industry the following year. He was leading actor in five films for director Cecil B. DeMille: Kindling (1915), The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1916), Male and Female (1919), Why Change Your Wife? (1920), and Manslaughter (1922), and achieved additional notice working with Mary Pickford in M'Liss (1918) and Lon Chaney in The Miracle Man (1919). Other popular titles featuring leading man Meighan include The Forbidden City (1918), The Canadian (1926), The Mating Call (1928), and, my own favorite, The Racket (1928). Meighan only appeared in a handful of talkies with Peck's Bad Boy (1934) his final release.
