Shop by the Stars aisle featuring Lilian Harvey (1906-1968) vintage movie cards, still photos, ephemera, and other collectibles. London born actress and singer who was raised and achieved her greatest fame in Germany after her family moved there prior to World War I. Harvey appeared in silent films beginning in 1925, with several of her talking pictures throughout the next decade being filmed in multiple languages, including English. She appeared opposite actor Willy Fritsch in twelve films between 1926-1939, including her best known title, Der Kongreß tanzt or Congress Dances (1931). Harvey's success in Europe earned her a deal in Hollywood with Fox Pictures, where she worked for a few years in just a handful of films. Included among Harvey's four pictures for Fox was the excellent and somewhat bizarre I Am Suzanne! (1933), which I highly recommend. She returned to Germany in 1935, but with the Nazis in power she'd later flee to France, where she appeared in her final two films in 1940. After the Germans took France, Harvey eventually surfaced in Los Angeles where she worked as a nurse. After the war she returned to Europe.
