Jack Hulbert

Shop by the Stars aisle featuring Jack Hulbert (1892-1978) vintage movie cards, still photos, ephemera, and other collectibles. Born in Ely, Cambridgeshire, UK, Jack Hulbert met actress Cicely Courtneidge in the cast of a 1913 stage production. They formed a comedy team and were married in 1916, a union that last until Hulbert's death in 1978. Their movie career was born of financial need, ushering in the period that placed Hulbert's face on so many British tobacco card issues of the 1930s. Younger brother Claude Hulbert was also an actor and the pair appeared together in Jack's best remembered starring vehicle, Alias Bulldog Drummond (1935), a Gaumont British production that also featured Ralph Richardson and Hollywood star Fay Wray.
