Shop by the Stars aisle featuring Elizabeth Allan (1910-1990) vintage movie cards, still photos, ephemera, and other collectibles. English born actress made her London stage debut in 1927. Her earliest film appearances came in her native England with Alibi (1931) beginning a very busy few years. Allan's Hollywood debut came in Looking Forward (1933), and was followed by appearances in several movie classics including David Copperfield (1935), A Tale of Two Cities (1935), Mark of the Vampire (1935), and Camille (1936). A couple of my favorite Elizabeth Allan performances come in smaller movies just prior to those classics when she played opposite Richard Dix in Ace of Aces (1933), and found herself at the center of the medical drama Men in White (1934). Her Hollywood career came to an end after suing MGM for breach of contract in 1939, but Allan returned to England and continued her successful career in movies and on television.
